Last updated: May 22, 2014 – 1:13 PM

downloadState Representative Monique Davis has proposed a bill that would eliminate weather as a factor in staying the enforcement of an eviction. But worse, it would empower the plaintiff to utilize a third party, including but not limited to off-duty local police, to execute the order for possession. That means that off-duty police officers, game wardens, even Alderman, could have the power to evict tenants in Chicago. The bill also limits the number of motions a tenant can file, affecting how well they can defend themselves against eviction. This is bill is not good for Chicago renters. Let your officials know!
